Exercising outdoors (should this be your preference) will not only keep you motivated and interested in exercise, it will also place demands on your body that indoor exercising will not, burning more calories as a result. Key demands that will make your body burn more calories outdoors include:

  • Having to constantly adjust to uneven, ever-changing terrains (sand or rock beaches, woodchip trails, pavements, inclines, declines...).
  • Having to fight the elements and keep warm on sometimes cooler days will require of your body to put forth a greater effort.
